It’s the second week of May (the year sure is flying by) and we have a new batch of great mixes to help get you through the week. This week’s mixes include house, dance, hiphop, rnb, oldies, classics, pretty much everything (except soca…we decided to give the soca a break). On to the music!
ORANGE HILL PRESENTS – ‘ELECTROBASHY’ WELCOME TO OUR SOUND
This mix, although little short absolutely blew our minds! The DJ’s managed to successfully blend dancehall and electro house for a sound that absolutely MUST be heard. If you don’t listen to any of the other mixes this week, listen to THIS ONE! After you’ve listened, tell us what you think!
Major Lazer and La Roux Presents LazerProof
This is a pretty ‘old’ mix. Released 2 years ago, Diplo & the Major Lazer team blended European star La Roux with a heavy dose of dancehall and a slew of other Genres. We’ve had this in permanent rotation for 2 years now and it just never seems to get old. If they had sold this, we would have bought it, but thankfully they gave it away free!
PETE TONG – BBC THE ESSENTIAL SELECTION (SAT-04-27-2012)
We love BBC. They have the best DJs who each and every week, put on the best shows. This show by Pete Tong is just what you’d expect, nearly 2 hours of genre bending mixing that will take you from mellow to pumped and back to mellow!
COPPERSHOT – 90′S SAMPLER – APRIL 2K12
90s Hiphop and dancehall…what more do we really need to say? If you grew up in the 90s in Jamaica, then this mix will throw you back!
DJ SE7EN (THE MIXOLOGIST) – MUSIC FOR THE MASSES (OLD SCHOOL) 2012
Unlike the mix above, this 90s mix spans a few more genres, including RnB and Pop. Definitely one of the better oldies mixes we’ve heard in a while!! This with the mix above, and you should be good to go if you’re a child of the 90s!
There you have it. This week’s picks. Hope you enjoyed all of them…or at least some! See you next week!
